DRC365 #345

Plant a tree. In this community in north-east Congo they are planting pine trees to enrich the soil and provide shade and protection for the area long into the future. These saplings are an indication of the community desire to think of their future, protecting the environment around them and conserving the land. Most trees are cut for firewood leaving hillsides bare and exposed, and now a different landscape is emerging, a symbol of a more peaceful future.
