We bid farewell to the staff member I am replacing today. It was touching to hear the stories of appreciation from the staff, and how he has impacted the whole team. We celebrated his achievements with a table full of food out on the verandah.
It really is a privilege to be working here in Chad, and as I looked round at the new team I will be working with I felt a little nervous, but excited to be taking on a new challenges.
I almost burst into a fit of giggles when he formally handed over the organisational ‘tampon’ (stamp for those non-francophones among you), there are some things in French that will always make me laugh!
So, I am officially taking on the baton, and move into my role fully tomorrow now that the handover is officially complete. Armed with the ‘tampon’ I hope I can make a positive difference to the team and organisation here in Chad.
